Con appears to be on the fast track to be an elder!!!
Of course, JWs seem to think they know everything when in fact, they really only know about 6 scriptures.
my family (wife and teenage kids) and i awakened to the true nature of the wt society a couple years ago and are fairly well faded now.. .
my son attends high school with a couple of jws, one of whom is an elder's son and an ardent true believer.
let's call him "con".

so far what is the response to the aux pioneering this year vs last year?.
in our cong - only 10 so far vs 52 last april.
Interesting. My congo has about the same number as last year (78 this year, last year it was around 82 I think). Percentage wise, it's similar because there were more publishers last year vs this year due to a few folks moving away.
The pressure was really ramped up with attendants handing out slips to people. They handed me one and I handed it back. My wife took hers and then threw it away.
I expected that the results would fall way off and was surprised that it didn't here. But, I'm encouraged to see everyone else's poor results. You would have thought that it would have been more gradual of a decline.

I had a form handed to me about a week or so ago, I said "no thanks" and handed it back. The person that gave it to me just laughed! I asked him if he was drafting folks and he said, "yeah, we want to beat last years numbers". This guy is still friendly to me and is pretty jaded so it didn't cause any issues.
He handed one to my wife who took it but I saw her throw it away when we got home!!
So far, I think they have around 30 or so out of about 110 publishers. Last year, I think the number was around 80 out of 110. I really think the numbers will be slightly lower this year and will continue that trend as the novality wears off.
a born ins challenge to develop a post cult personality.. mentally leaving the organization can be traumatic for a number of reasons.
one of the biggest challenges for born-ins in finding their pre cult personality is that our entire personalities are based on the religion.
there is no such thing as a pre cult personality for us.
SIAM - well written! You've expressed almost exactly what I was thinking about on my ride home from work today.
noroomforgeorge must be drooling over this wt illustration.
the (1950s) woman of his dreams.... .
.
y'all are crazy! I am sitting here LMAO!
good day,.
this week is the super special week of activity with one of our favorite jw celebrities...the circuit overseer!!!.
in last night's talk, he gave sooooo much encouragement...just hearing him made me want to fall to my knees and worship him!
Holy cow. Not sure if I posted this or not but we had the "privilege" of a CO visit about 2 months ago and the CO said the SAME THING! I mean the same back story, same stupid conclusion, everything.
Raging Bull, I'm going to send you a PM. maybe we have the same CO? If not, I wonder why this story is gaining legs now?
My mouth was wide open after he said that and my wife looked at me and laughed. On the car ride home, she was openly critical of this CO (neither of us are a fan anyway) and she pointed out that several JWs died (including a firefighter - there's an Awake article on it). Oh, and several other folks in the congregation mentioned it to me in a social setting and made fun of it. There was more than one comment about us needing to wear tin foil helmets.
This is just the kind of craziness that my parents generation who came in just prior to 1975 will eat up. However, the effect on the younger ones seems to be just the opposite.
ok so i sort of tie in and listen to the meetings.
the elders blocked my number lasy fall but then they let me back in???
not a clue what that was about.. so anywho these last two service parts have been on social networks.
Not a local needs part. It was the regularly scheduled part on the SM that covered that Awake article mentioned and rightfully mocked above.
The guy that did ours (just a ms) tried to put a "reasonable" spin on it. It was still stupid and even my wife looked at me and rolled her eyes a few times at some of the more outrageous comments.

this is actually not a former witness or anything, this is a cracked style article.
i think it's pretty funny, i think it's evidence that the wt is not going to be around forever.
Very funny! I often thought that at least 50% (probably closer to 90%) of the folks that would take the mags did so just to get rid of the person at the door and probably threw them away immediately. It really is rubbish isn't it?
i'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.
i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.
If this is not the truth then why are some of u still 'fading'? why condone untruth? Would God be happy if this isn't the truth and yet u still atempt to condone and fade?
In many cases, including my own, the price of leaving is greater than the price of staying. If I were to leave, it's highly likely that my wife would divorce me, my kids could be potentially turned against me and my entire family and much of my social circle would shun me. I have thought quite a bit about your question regarding truth and I really don't think there is a "true" religion out there today. I do understand that appearing to support something you don't believe in is hypocritical and I freely admit that. But, my keeping my wife is more important to me than what others think.
If she were to say that she wanted to quit today, I'd be gone.
I was an elder when I came to the conclusion that the WTS doesn't have the truth. I served for a few years before resigning. Now, I still attend, rarely comment (its hard because I can't worship the GB and that's where much of the discussion seems to be these days) still make an appearance in service.
My wife is aware of my thoughts and agrees with many of them. She simply sees this as the religion of her birth and a social circle. She thinks that Jehovah judges us on how we act not on our religious affiliation. I agree.

Welcome!! I'll echo others in their advise to take things slow and make well thought out decisions. Ah, if I had only done what you're doing when I was 20..... this is a great place to vent and to learn. Look foward to hearing your contributions.
